If they're paired with Bluetooth, they could go up to ~240 m/800 ft, if they're using the low-data rate, high-range mode. But of course, that's marketing, so it was calculated in ideal conditions. Walls (concrete or fleshy) would likely cut that number in half.

What would happen if you turned it on, and it went out of range, would it stay turned on until the battery runs out?
