I guess not. If you used to drawn driders/spider girls, then that's usual.
Besides, even without that - artstyle ain't making it that scary at all.

Honestly, I'm more surprised we don't see spidergirls and the like doing more with their arachnid eyes.

I meant in the sense that this implied that face your looking at is literally just a decorative crest or something along those lines.
