If memory serves, lot of cats don't like being touched or petted while eating.
That's true. Cats (carnivores in general) are at their most vulnerable state during eating, since their most powerful weapon that is fangs would not be usable. Petting a cat, even tame one will sometimes trigger their fight reflex.
