Not sure how I didn’t notice this until now but Gen 5 isn’t doing too well in terms of subscriber count. None of them have reached the 500K mark yet. Botan is the closest at 445K, but considering the other generations have members who have twice the subscribers Botan has it would appear Gen 5 is struggling somewhat.

Gen 5 also just debut this year, only some months back. It took older gens a year or two to reach 500k mark, and even today some, such as Mel and Choco, still falling behind their fellow gen members

It's really not fair to compare Gen 5 to members that have had a year or more to build their fanbases, and no you can't compare them to EN either because being English speakers gives them a much easier time appealing to a wider audience. Anyone who speaks a primary language other than English is going to grow slower than someone who speaks English by default, most Westerners require translators to enjoy the JP girls.

This post is so ????? I have no idea where to start from
1. One year ago, you could literally count the number of Vtubers with 500k + subs with one hand. Not just Hololive (which had 0). All Vtubers.
2. Gen 5 has been active for less than a year. Previous gens have had less than 200k with the same amount of time.
3. Hell, they STARTED with 100k subs which took even Coco a month to get there herself.
4. Subcount "not doing too well" means jack all compared to live viewers, which is far from lacking. Lamy is live and has 6.9k as of writing. Anything higher than 1-2k should already be considered great relative to all streamers in general, not just Hololive.

I don’t think Sub count really even mean that much outside of a way for the girls to celebrate once in a while. I’m not sure how you got the idea that Gen 5 isn’t do so well when they’re actually getting pretty consistent views and SCs. I’m pretty sure Cover isn’t going to reprimand them just because they haven’t gotten half a million which before the debut of EN, was almost an impossible thought for most of the girls outside of Fubuki and Korone. Heck, Sora is only about 500k subs compared to everyone but she still the face and an important figure in Hololive. The same goes for AzKi.
The girls are fine. Subscriber count shouldn’t be taken too serious because otherwise you get fucking assholes like those that was spamming Fubuki’s chat trying to create hostility between her and Gura.
I also don't think sub count is the sole indicator of popularity, either. Coco is (or at least was) the leader in superchats on youtube despite not having the highest sub count. Don't forget, gen 5 also had the shortest time to reach 100k subscribers of any generation outside of EN. Botan had a thing where she worked with a japanese CoD tournament. Personally I think reaching 100k is the more important milestone since its the only one that seems to signal sufficient growth from hololive's point of view (since 100k is the requirement for 3-d model).

Coco has the sixth highest sub count in Hololive. It’s likely that in a few months she, Aqua, and Pekora will be the next members of Hololive to reach the million sub mark.

Which doesn't really matter. I think you should worry less about how popular these girls are, and stop comparing them all the time. That's definitely not what they want from their fans. Especially when right now is the golden age of vtubers and any growth now is obviously going to dwarf previous years' growth, as well isn't going to last forever.

You say that like I plan on talking to them about this. There’s nothing wrong with evaluating how well they’re doing every once in awhile. Besides them reaching a million is something everyone in the community wants to see happen. When Fubuki reaches a million she and the rest of Gamers were super happy about it.

But your evaluations are entirely focused on their sub count, which affects very little. The only sub counts that actually matter is 1k to be monetized, and 100k to get a 3D model. Beyond that it's just a counter for how many people have clicked Subscribe, it doesn't say anything about how much money they actually make or how many of those subscribers are actually watching their content. Live viewers and superchat earnings are much better indicators of how successful they are. Getting 1mil subscribers is cool and fun to celebrate, but it's just another milestone, it shouldn't be a metric for saying they're not doing well just because someone else got there faster.
As for "every once in a while" you've started up a discussion complaining about how unpopular certain Hololivers are and unfairly compared them to other members like once a week for the past month. Just because their subscriber count isn't skyrocketing, even though all of them are still growing faster now than they were last year.
