Yes, it's become a whole mess. It was especially bad since it would seem the CN girls were fed misinformation about what was going to happen before (I think they were told they would be able to keep their avatars but that was false) and they've all chosen to graduate and their avatars are going to have to officially retire.
On the goodside, it seems that they were able to keep most of the money they made from the past months. At the very least, it seems that Cover have left them with a bit of dignity and are somewhat reimbursing them, as well as respected their wishes of what they wanted to do in the future(they all chose to graduate, which was suppose to be a group decision)
It's still sad though. Very unfortunate, especially cause it would mean we'll never get a true worldwide interview and view of Hololive again
*Edit: Sorry. It would seem that they might have to commission completely new avatars unfortunately which will be quite expensive. Even Civia's 3D model that was nearly finish, it seems she's not going to be able to have it. It really does suck that the girls might have to start from scratch but I do hope that they could at least mention their past(via characters and able to look similar enough) to gain back the fans if they are to stream again.
I haven't heard any news about if Cover will help them for new Avatar, so that's the part that sucks the most cause it really mean they lose almost everything (especially since their twitter will be closed)
It is such a shame to read about what is happening to Artia. Apparently she was really influential in getting people to notice Hololive through Reddit, and she could be considered an important factor in its growth in the English community in particular.
It just wasn't meant to be this way. I can only hope Artia and the other China team girls will find new beginnings.
... there is a behind the scene thing about Artia and Civia getting forced to watch CCP things and cover their own ass to not get harrassed by the people who get in all of this mess, plus some pointed out they had to also fake to be mad at the Coco and Hacchama thing as well as participate. Even if the idiots get say they were on their side, i still feel both girls has to doing it in order to not get the same people screwing things up.
Of course the whole thing escalated so much to this point. The only good part is this is CCP shills/Anti-japanese but it seems the CCP betray them with the social score thing as a form of punishment for their actions.
https://ibb.co/s9wDcSk <--- this is a link who resume the behind the scenes events after talking it about with with a friend. TAKE IT this information however you want, as i'm only reporting it and share it.
With all of this i still hope the girls get a better threatment too.
I heard about some of the more..."controversial" stuff too, but I don't plan on saying it cause it shouldn't matter anymore. If people really wants to find out more, its up to them to search on their own.
I too think it would be better if people just don't hold it on the CN girls on any of this anymore, no matter what they find, and wish for them the best of luck, that they can move on from such sad events especially when alot of it is pretty much out of their control and had placed them between a rock and a hard place.

yeah!! i think the same as i take jobs as serious business as much as we like to goof around.
For me, the girls has to choose between that and i really understand each position, thats why i hope them to get better in all of this and out of this crap as soon as posible as i see them really wanting to do this for real. Even Artia who seems to be the one who got more touched from there, specially since he had a lot of fun but know this could go down at any moment from all the troubles ... plus she was loved at the same level of Coco for been a memelord too, something who resonate with more than one in a fun level.
I'm very sure they'll all have new indie personas and have neon lights pointing their fans to those new personas. None of them indicated they wanted to stop, just that the contractual webs and IP ownerships made it impossible for them to just grab the characters and go.
A loud group of Chinese haters/nationalists want Cover to stop doing business in China. So they did.
More like they can’t anymore. The issue is that Bilibili has pretty much stopped allowing Cover to use their service(or at least made it impossibly hard), as well as a bunch of other games and sponsors like Azur Lane having pretty much distanced themselves away from them. Genshin Impact even took it upon themselves to censor certain words like Coco’s name and alot of Chinese owned games have stop letting Cover stream them. That’s why you stop seeing the girls playing certain games.
It’s gotten to a point where their presence has already become dangerous to their livelihood and even if Cover had complied with what the Antis wanted, i.e firing Coco and apologize with utmost shame and proceeding to kiss their ass, it would not solve anything.
At this point, there is no way for Cover to work in China and if the CN girls aren’t cut off they will be eventually dragged into very dangerous positions cause some of them and their families live there and with the constant increasing hostility towards Hololive it will only be a matter of time before they spin a narrative of the girls being “traitors”. It’s a no-win situation, only more of a curbing the situation while they still can which is why the CN girls’ graduation was almost immediate.
Artia and Civia from what I heard already took a bunch of heat on their social credit themselves.
I have heard rumors of nationalists themselves getting their credit knocked for jumping over the wall, even if it was to bot and spam on Youtube for their motherland, ironically. I wouldn't so easily conclude that "acquainted with Cover = credit down", since the two you mentioned have streamed in Twitch and YT which would be more likely culprits IF the rumors are true.
This is all my own opinion at this point but I personally think the CN government (or whatever ministry) couldn't give less of a shit to whether a small entertainment company continues working in China, especially after they already made an official statement saying they support the One China Policy and aren't trying to do something crazy like topple the regime with their talents. I don't see them being so free to try and stomp Cover out, but they also aren't going to vet Cover and publicly announce that it's fine. They simply just don't care.
I do think it's just a group of sheltered nationalists and/or vtuber haters that continuously press for the split because they see the opportunity, and for some inane reason, they have enough sway to make the Chinese companies follow. Maybe they're really loud, or maybe they're really big, or maybe the Chinese companies realise the CN government doesn't care about them either and they won't be helped against the hate.
But in whatever case and truth, what's done is done. Time to just accept it and part ways.

From what I've been told this isn't the devs decision directly and this is some sort of filter they have to apply, as is the case in other Chinese games as well - evidenced by the fact that this is only a thing on Genshin's CN server and her name isn't censored at all on EU/NA. But man, to think this whole debacle started because of goddamn Youtube analytics of all things.

Commies don't care about truth. Commies don't care about justice. They just want to make people afraid and they will find and create scapegoats as needed.
Compounding the above, it appears HoloCN was never a popular nor a profitable venture. Meanwhile a small shark took only 6 weeks to blaze past the million sub mark, and Moona and Risu of the Indonesian branch are both currently experiencing a jump in popularity.
