I personally use a method that is similar only in the fact that a cup of water is involved.
This one's real easy, though: get a relatively full cup of water, and drink all of it while holding your nose (remember to take a big breath before you start).
The water drinking tricks work because they make you concentrate on the movement of the muscles involved in hiccupping.
Once you get that, you can leave out the water, and just sit still and concentrate on breathing calmly while keeping those muscles still (and not coughing), and you won't hiccup. If you do this for a couple of minutes, the hiccups will be gone.
It's not hard, once you realize you can do it that way, and after that you will not need to be bothered by hiccups again.
it's not the water itself, it's what you are doing while you drink.
Hatsune Miku's How To Stop Hiccups for dummies.Get some water in a cup.Usually gets it on the first try. If not, the second should do it.Sit yourself down on a seat.Tilt your head back and swallow about half.Curl over forwards (try to touch your chest to your thighs) and swallow the rest.Hold a big mouthful of water in your mouth. (Do not swallow immediately)
