god i don't want to imagine an american cosplaying this. nightmares of gunner yuna cosplayers come to mind >< not having the correct body for the character has a lot to do with how bad it looks, they are lazy and don't want to be accurate yet they still manage to spend $120 to sew it (so why not spend an extra $40 for the details?), and most of them don't apply their makeup well enough to look presentable.
i believe when they mean "american" they more or less mean "white girl/person". asian people generally fair alot better in cosplay for obvious reason. not to say that all white people do poor cosplay, it just takes time to find them and with a matching character >_>
comment #10228 True. I do see a lot of better cosplayers who are Asian, rather than Caucasian, but I also have seen some pretty good white chicks cosplay. I do have to say, though, I would probably cosplay as a guy if I were to cosplay at all, mostly because I like to cross-dress. ^^;
Most can't tell the difference. Her blood's Chinese and she grew up in new york. She's an American citizen... Still who is going to remember? It's a Japanese anime. I think they are just referring to oriental blood in general. Nothing new or unusual there.
I think the one where she's leaning back against the steel storage looks the most natural. That bent knee and toe position on the back foot... Plus the way her hair is set to hang lank and long covering the eyes a bit. She must have used an actual scene from the show as a reference. I'd be happy to see her in a black lagoon live action.
The first is quite bright and has great hand positioning but it's a little too close. This one has good form but you can see the gear better. Which is a distraction for me... *shrug* It's just a little too busy with too much going on around the mid section. The colors clash a bit. Probably well researched given the quality of the rest though.
