Funnily enough I actually do think the KC design looks better... at least as an overall design. Other than the outfit and equipment I'm... just not feeling it. She doesn't have Iowa's star-eyes, she doesn't have Gamby's big, fluffy twintails, she doesn't have Atago's huge bust or Bisko's sweet hat (or Graf's for that matter). She doesn't have Shimakze's bunny ribbon or Colorado and Warspite's braids or color stripes like Teste or even that weird windsock(?) thing that Shinyou has. She's just... blonde.
Although I DO want to know what's inside her flight deck case she's got there.
KC has not been innocent of that. Tenryuu K2 is a fine example.
Don't forget Unryuu. Amagi and Katsuragi are not as much "sexualized" as their sister, at least in my opinion.
That being said, I do find KC Hornet to be attractive (and that's coming from someone whose one of the reason playing AL was because of Hornet). Wonder if other Yorktown-class would be designed by Konishi too or not.

People who shitpost with "derp Big E will be Shibafu", I'd like to point out that as far as foreign ships are concerned, they have been consistent with keeping to 1 ship class = same artist. So I doubt Tanaka to not allow Konishi to draw the rest of the Yorktown sisters.

Well, luckily this was drawn by someone else other than shizuma_yoshinori so it is expected that it won't be drawn with the idea of trying to gather all the fucking attention in the world.
Her art here made me think of the alternate costumes they give in AL, you know the not oversexualized clothes they give to tone it down when the artist loses their minds. It's simple, beautiful and more importantly specialized in a specific fetish: TIGHTS!!!
Although my only problem is that when I first saw her, I thought she was just a event cg of another shipgirl or Kancolle promoting more clothes, like they did with Stronk Bucky.

Oh man, it will be such sweet delicious salty potatos if Shibafu does get a chance to draw big E. The whole server and fandom will become a sea of flames the likes of never seen and it will glorious.
Well, I guess I'm one of the few minorities cause I do like Shibafu's artwork more(even if I mock the ever loving shit out of him) although, if someone who is deserving of having the honor of doing such an important ship, it should no doubt be drew_(drew213g).
The man crawled his way from the bottom to becoming one of the best and most improved artist in KC, yet he is still barely given any new characters to create.
I like the contrast of the new ships; we have Hornet with one of the game's most down-to-earth designs and South Dakota with one of the most out there designs.

Don't remember exactly the place I read it and how long ago was it, but Tanaka originally had the game live for about 3 or 5 months max and never expect to live more than that. But look and behold, we are 7 years in the future from that and still going.
Feels like an improvement over Intrepid's design to me, honestly (which I was ambivalent about at the time). Kancolle is something I've moved on from aside from fanart, I like all the character designs from this latest event tho.

Well I know which version of CV-8 is gonna be forefront in my mind going froward, this just blows the AL one out of the water, though that's admittedly not a super high bar to clear really. Her design was weak compared to her sisters in that game.

The servers could easily last a very lone time given how simplistic the game is overall. I doubt they're running it on some massive intensive farm, so as long as even a tiny group is playing it, it's probably worth keeping active (nevermind stuff like WoW, Everquest is actually still live and straight up 20 years old this year). When it will stop getting notable updates is the bigger question.
Sexualized things are still exist in KC but they know to handle it like a pro (i.e. damaged art)
and KC wont die soon, there's lots of unpopular franchise in japan but still keep releasing new stuff. and KC is already ascending to legendary tier franchise after Touhou.
Is 2024 and KC still there, also KC Hornet managed to become more popular than her AL counterpart that was several years out there before KC Hornet. That says something.
