I can imagine Kirishima, Takao, Atago, Nagara, Teruzuki, Inazuma, Shirayuki and Hatsuyuki frantically hurling everything they have and wondering why she just won't sink.

Seems appropriate for when she was pummeled in real life. It was mostly superficial damage with no real danger of sinking. Only about 39 sailors killed.
