It's a quote from Takeda Shingen, in turn who quoted the Art of War. The kanji individually are wind, forest, fire, and mountain. The actual phrase itself is, "Swift as the Wind, Silent as a Forest, Fierce as Fire and Immovable as a Mountain"

I'd say that sums up Ryu just about right.
