There's a MASSIVE debate on this. One side claims that love to other species is either not possible or extremely vulgar, whereas people who practice bestiality generally claim to feel affection and love for their animal partners.
"Onlookers" may think they are using the animal as a sex toy, but such is generally not the case (from the view of the pet lover).
