If I had surplus land, I'd take some of the oil that they've been paying to get rid of and sell it off when/if this blows over and I'm still around.
Realistically speaking it isn't like anyone is actually paying people to take oil. They just aren't selling any oil and are undergoing expenses for storage (land, ships, security, personnel, regulatory fees etc). If you were to buy crude right now, it would be cheap, but it would still be relatively costly for a layman. Lot of people panicking over it when really it is much todo about nothing (unless you are working in that industry, then of course you are upset about the lack of income), as we knew this was going to happen when the quarantines started.
