I'd imagine this is in reference to the fact that the circle that did the ending song is Kishida Kyoudan and the Akeboshi Rockets, since they started out with touhou? The animation for Renko was really well done.

I'd like this, but the naked gap hag just kinda ruins it for me.

The fact that ichigo was the vocalist for this makes it all the more familiar.
