Well, there is a version of the PK is called Pecheneg, named after the turkish semi-nomadic tribe.
The IWI ( former IMI ) named the Negev Light Machine Gun after the Negev desert.
There is a river called Abakan ( Bear's Blood ), there is also a city called Abakan ( yes, the city is located at the confluence of the Abakan and the Yenisei rivers ).
So, there's a theory... Dont take this comment/explanation as the truth though, i might be entirely wrong.
