    Dragon Quest 1 comes out and holy shit it's selling like crazy. Other devs are pretty much scrambling to get their own RPGs out to try and cash in. Said game was one them and it's a mess as it was rushed out and done pretty much by one programer. It's got bugs everywhere, typos and baffling design decisions.

    Weird decisions where the ones digit of HP is truncated, The skill to escape works better when it FAILS (and due to bugs getting enough failures means it auto works), the final boss literally isn't programed in, attempting to fight it jumps to the ending cutscene... There are no credits. No one wants to take credit for the game. No one wants to take credit for the music.
