Although the British Command in the Crimean War was so intensely feeble, even this is idealised: certainly prior to her ( and her supporters ) the British wounded were actually in worse conditions than even a death camp a century later. Americans in the Secession War a decade later were badly treated also.

The Russian Imperialists were just slightly better and more evolved, but each had different things to be worse at.
