Makes you wonder if each respective faction's naval command had baked the Commander (and very likely the furball) over the coals in regards to the kiddo versions of each ship

I mean, what real leverage does any military authority have over the Commander or Akashi? S/He has an army of over a hundred weaponized brides who are desperately in love with him/her, and are the only force capable of fighting, much less beating, the extradimensional invaders. They'd have a mutiny if they tried to replace the Commander, and Akashi is vital to the war effort as well. The girls themselves (especially Akagi and Taihou) are far more effective at keeping the Commander reined in.

Not to mention that aside from the kid versions of certain ships, there's already no shortage of kid-like ships before Belchan. If there were complaints, it happened long ago and nothing came from it.

I would assume the world powers didn't put all their hopes on this reverse-engineered siren technology which produced several hundred volatile bordering unstable shipgirls and that this was merely a stopgap measure until they could develop more reliable and secure means of fighting the sirens. Depending on how miffed they were about the kids, they might unveil something new and not shipgirl when they confront the commander and Akashi.

IIRC, the kiddos are basically just the result of further experimentation into the technology. Though this time, done by a certain green cat. If what can be inferred from OP Siren on is to be trusted, it seems that if anything, the world powers are doubling down on reverse engineering Siren tech.

Belchan, Zeppy, Akagi-chan, and Hiei-chan were all accidents. The rest of the child ships didn't come with an explanation, but presumably they're the same. The way it's talked about in the Belchan and Zeppy mini-events, it doesn't seem like Akashi and Yuubari(everyone conveniently forgets she was also involved) had actually been given any permission to be blasting poorly understood cubes with experimental lasers, and were operating on their own whims.

Their "loli gun" is taken away after the Zeppy incident iirc. Though since child ships are still popping up, I guess that hasn't deterred them.
