... "Longer" and "smaller"? How on earth is that supposed to make sense???
Her first sentence ends in ながくなった (nagaku natta), past tense. Her second sentence ends in ちっちゃくなってる (chicchaku natteru), present progressive tense. I'm a bit perplexed by it too, but that's how she says it.

I believe it essentially means "used to be" instead, which makes more sense regardless so I changed it above.

If that's the case, then it strictly speaking, it should be ながいだった or ながかった. The change does make sense, but unless the original phrasing is a typo or an unusual/unfamiliar usage of the grammar, it otherwise really doesn't say what it's supposed to say here.

Perhaps, but if so, it's an odd exception. Most other verbal errors are mispronunciations (like Katyusha's persistent lisp of "Pirozhki"). Grammatical errors would have to be consistent to be discernible as speech quirks/in-character errors instead of author errors.
They're getting smaller than before! That's because you're all growing.

Sensei! The cicadas aren't calling!A lot of it got on Katyusha's face! When I get big, I'm gonna become Nonna-chan!
