Are you using FireFox, by chance? I ask because I do and, ever since an update a few months ago, I've had this same problem with certain videos on Twitter.

No, I use Chrome. Seems like it shares the same problem.

And here I thought the cause was my old PC. So it wasn't just me. If it's any hint, when I try on mobile with the Adblock browser it works just fine.
the problem seems to be: β’ firefox uses the openh264 decoder. β’ openh264 has little support for video outside the 'baseline' profile. β’ this video is encoded with the 'main 5.2' profile.
even with the latest openh264 version (2.0.0), the highest profile it seems to be able to decode is 'baseline 5.1'. so unfortunately it seems currently the only options are to download it and either transcode it to a different profile or use a different media player
