Contrary to many "hard-core" Type-Moon fans, I actually prefer the Tsukihime anime's version of the characters. They're cleaner, more clear-cut, and more defined than the original game CG were.
I guess that's why I don't like the Fate anime's character designs too much.
I knew about Tsukihime's no-budget origins; now that I look at Fate/Stay Night, I still can't say that I like their signature art style (with the exception of the elder women, such as Caster and Rider, and possibly Sakura in some shots) any more with time.
Sure, it's coloured better, but Fate is still Type-Moon art. I'd buy a Carnelian or Seiji Kikuchi art collection over a Type-Moon art collection any day.
Interestingly enough, Carnelian was supposed to have published a collection of fan-arts from other series in her style, called BENIGYOKUZUI vol.9, including pictures of popular characters from b-games such as Fate/Stay Night, To Heart 2, and even from the anime Gundam Seed Destiny.
You can find a sample of the fanart in the book here:
These day,I think this anime version is clean enough to express the this work's atmosphere well. Proabably, many fans of type-moon are familiar with that big-eye version of anime. So they dislike this version.

Not to mention in game universe, this can just never happen, seeing as Akiha has obsession over her brother, someone is vampire hunter, and one of the twin isn't huge fan of interaction...
