He does look fitting of being the champion and all, but why does he need a Charizard instead of an actual new Galarian mon? I wouldn't be surprised if his entire gimmick is "I can Dynamax my Megazard X"
Really hope they'd stop sucking that fire lizard's dick for once.

It's possible that some pokemon will have new forms when they go Kaiju. And charizard may be one of them.

It's just a hunch, but I suspect they needed an immediately familiar dragon-shaped mon, and as almost everyone knows Charizard they went with it. Why would they need it? Because of the whole Sword and Shield theme. I would not be surprised if his entire gimmick was actually dragon type and shaped mons.

Then MAKE a Galarian dragon, or choose some other dragons. Every electric gym leaders weren't legally obligated to use a Pikachu so why should this guy use a Charizard unless they wanna introduce something else exclusive to give to that #1 overrated skink.
Except I don't think we've ever gotten that kind of reveal this early in the run up. We get an assortment of mons, but the dragon types are typically revealed later, possibly because dragons have a tendency to be psuedo-legendaries or close to it. And they are ALL late game mons. At this point, we mostly see the early-game new mons. Hell, most of the mons we saw in the direct were old mons. I get that you don't like Charizard, but expecting them to reveal this generation's Dragonite or Tyranitar at this point is not really realistic. And of the dragon-shaped Pokemon, the most recognizable is by far Charizard, for better or for worse.
