So it does. That is interesting. It's pronounced "otsu" which is the beginning of "otsukaresamea deshita" which means roughly "thanks for your work".

Written, it looks nothing like "疲れ様でした" or "おつかれさまでした" though, so its like modern day ateji. But then again if Japanese SMS language can include "39" (pronounced "san kyuu") to also mean "thank you" (in English), why not?
