It was at that moment, when all the algorithms and combat predictions just didn't add up. Jeager Unit JSF-228.A had been down this road before, if her logs were correct. She had been down this path, and it seemed she had missed the mandatory wipe upon re-download to a new combat chassis.
Her target stood before her, muzzle of the replica antique pressed against her head. Her shot utterly obliterated a third of the enemy android, a former civilian model pressed into service.
"C#ntender." Her voice was full of static, the result of not having to use it due to SF's emphasis on networking.
"Jeager. You recognize me then."
The Jeager could see through her HUD that her rifle's charge was nearing minimums that would release the safety override. Nothing of the sort would stay the enemy's own weapon.
"If you do remember me the next time, we can talk more. If you survive the wipe, that is."
"Su&÷×ive the w-"
Contender blew a hole through the Jeager's head. Truth be told, she had been hers. Something caused her to miss. Whatever it was, SF dolls were programmed to not think on their own. Not unless they were ringleaders. Can't have the rabble to stage their own uprising now can they?
