But it's a curry, though. Will it be Rendang-able? I mean, color-wise, it's close enough.
Depends on what spices you use to make the curry and the final oil content, either it can be turned into Rendang or it can't: the main spices for both are really similar: cardamom, star anise, cinnamon, cloves, cumin and some others.
Rendang is considered a form of 'dry curry', yet you can't make Rendang without coconut milk in the mix of spices. Sure, you can try and boil the hell outta normal curry, but without the coconut oil originating from the coconut milk you'd end up with blackened pot base from burning spices; the oil acts like a buffer that coats the spices, preventing them from burning up and helps with water elimination from the solids.
But generally, you can't make rendang outta normal curry. It'll be too mild.
Kalio, the pre-final version of Rendang, has some similarities with curry, but they're not the same.
I made some curry by following Houshou-san's recipe to the letter, without making any adjustments.Hence it ended up being exquisitely superb. HieeeeEEeeh...So curry becomes delicious... if you leave it overnight...I'll get the Commander to eat it right aw—Did you know, Isokaze-san?
Curry improves in flavor when you leave it to rest overnight....Then letting it sit for two months will work even better, right!
