It's probably the role reversal aspect of it. Taking someone who's used to exerting absolute control over things (her dolls) and putting her in a position where she controls nothing - not even her own body - has an inherent appeal for a lot of people. Plus, that extreme loss of power and agency appeals to the sadists.
