This is definitely one of the most famous anime image online, if not THE most famous. I've been typing "Anime girl" on Google image from time to time for the past 10 years and this is always one of the first results, it still is as I'm writing this comment. The sad thing about this is that there are many, MANY people selling products with this image slapped on it, and of course, 99% (if not 100%) of them do it without the artist's consent. I'm actually convinced that if ALL these people had paid him the money they should've paid to use his image, or if he sued ALL those people and won, he'd be a millionaire. But looking at his Twitter bio, he's a father of three kids and seems really happy with his life, that's what really matters.
Not related, but it was a pain in the *** for me to find the original image, it's been cropped literally thousands of times throughout the years, and the websites that help you find the source of an image generally aren't really good when the image is cropped. I still found it, but I should've used a booru instead and typed key tags like white_hair, apple and ribbon.

Maybe your interest in this particular image has skewed your results. I just googled for "anime girl" and I don't see this image at all, let alone on the first page.
