(CO binds with hemoglobin to form the characteristic cherry-pink complex, carboxyhemoglobin. By the time there's enough of this compound to turn a person's face pink, he's already severely poisoned.)

Makes you wonder if the mansion has any built-in heating if they have to resort to charcoal to warm him up >_>
