I never understand why out of all the characters why they would choose soldier 76 to be gay. It’s so out of nowhere and just feels...forced and stupid. Literally anyone else would have made more sense than soldier 76.

If anything, the one that made the most sense of being a homosexual it should have been Reinhert. Infact, I’m mad that it’s Reinhert that isn’t gay. He just seem a better representation, if you take out the crazy part of him always wanting to smash head first into everything, although that is what make him so lovably.

I really don’t understand these decisions they’re making to have certain characters homosexuals that just don’t make sense outside of pandering. I had the same problem when they confirm Tracer being a lesbian, although it was slightly less of a big deal, because they just never really give any context as to why or how they are that way.

The main problem also being they hardly give any stories to any of these characters. Any reason why or anything that attribute to them being....gay, unless I’m missing something, Tracer’s was out of nowhere too when they just suddenly decided to give her a girlfriend and just decided to say she’s a lesbian. I guess it’s because she’s british but I digress That was a Yugioh abridge joke by the way, how old that is, so don’t get all mad.

The snarky response has been that it came just after all the news of Activision's stock prices plummeting after Bungie managed to break free from their grasp, so they were looking for anything to throw out and change the topic.

Honestly, it would save them all the backlash if they just announced character sexuality when they came out so that it's not like it's changing people's perceptions of characters out from under them. I remember comparisons to Dumbledore's supposedly being declared gay after the main series being finished, and then in the books and movies she made afterwards, STILL don't actually put it anywhere in the actual story.

So basically, you might as well declare Death of the Author and say that Soldier 76 is straight and Reinhert is gay, because there's just as much evidence in the text (read: game) of both.
