Of course I know. Anyone who makes an allusion to CoDzilla (Cleric or Druid 'zilla) knows.

That said, the Cleric has been significantly nerfed in 5e (and nerfed EVEN FURTHER with the November 2018 errata). Still decentish, but the class is very front-loaded, so after Level 10 or so it starts feeling lackluster (unless you cheese Forbiddance since it technically doesn't consume the ruby dust), because your spell list starts getting really, well, meh. You're still very useful to the party, but generally speaking the best use of your actions past a certain point is to make sure your party Wizard (or whatever battlefield controller caster in your party like a Druid or Warlock) gets to take his turn and maintain his concentration afterwards. Or be the Bless buffbot, for less crucial fights. In short, your best use of an action is, well, making sure other people get to take their actions, which is important, yes, but feels lackluster.

Granted, your low level spells are amazing (pity they nerfed Sanctuary), but this makes it all the more easier for the Fighter or Rogue or equivalent to steal your thunder by dipping one level into Cleric. 5e also makes it far easier to purchase Clerical services (explicitly via one of the backgrounds), and lets resting heal HP and ability damage, all of which contribute to diminishing the importance of having a Cleric in the party.
(Compare to 3.5, where the party is gonna have a BAD TIME if they don't have a Cleric [or equivalent access to cleric spells].)

Of course, undead-heavy campaigns are a different story. Turn Undead alone is a tide-turner, and Forbiddance becomes an auto I-Win-this-Dungeon spell.

To note its hard to say idlf they' re in a DnD based world or Final Fantasy one.
