Answer to commentary - If i remember correctly during one interview with Masuda or other Gamefreak member, they confirmed that BW/BW2 protagonists are a bit older than in rest of the games. Some fans believed that it means that they are around 15-16yo but there was realy no confirmation. I think that it realy depends on your own opinion and point of view about what they said.

Funnily enought there's one more game where characters are bit older than usual 10 - In Alola when you start island challenge Hala or Kukui outright stated that it's a thing for 11 year old kids.
