I think the grail only gives "general knowledge" so that the heroes can fit into whatever the culture structure society is at, at the time. We've seen time and time again that the heroes can be surprised by new things they learn about whatever time period they're in, so even if Gil knows the society as a whole, individual aspects can still get to him. And despite his ego he's a big softy who seems to have a weakness for cute little girls and forlorn dramas.
Either Caster (since she summons illusion with each match lit) or Berserker (dies from the lack of human care/warmth, will actively glomps anyone to death, draining their body heat.)
