but i'm fairly certain there aren't any female goblins in Goblin Slayer
Nope, not one. That’s why the whole race is nothing but a rapey group of monsters. It’s not even like in ReMonster where there are female, but reproduction rate is abhorrently low. It really makes you think about how those creatures came to be, whether they evolved as such or some terrible creation made by dark magic or just fucked up creatures created by the gods.
I also wonder if there are also other monsters with the same biology, like orcs. Pull a LOTRs you know.

I try to think that they're kind of like Xenomorphs from the Alien series, despite having a Queen there, but they do reproduce via "forced procreation" and gain a bit of traits and appearances based on the host.
On the other hand, the fem goblins here look like they came from that Slime Isekai story.
If it's how monsters like goblins come about you want to know, although it's explained in away that is more like game mechanic, but Log Horizon gave an explanation. The souls of demi-human keeps getting recycled into monsters. And if not constantly weed off, it can reach a level of threat you can't afford to ignore.
ReMonster though, they did specifically stated the reproduction rate between demi-human is always low, no matter the race. But when a human (women) is involved, that rate skyrockets to the sky. So race with low expectancy of life just attack human travelers to capture women, rape them for reproduction.

They're parasitic beings and they're fairly recent because one god decided to be a dick.
Ah. I thought he just walked right into that Imperial ambush. Same as us, and that thief over there.
It's a reference to the last scene of the first episode of the Goblin Slayer anime, not Skyrim. In the voiceover, Priestess is talking about how it's a common thing for village girls to be kidnapped, or female newbie adventurers to lose to goblins, and get raped, then never be the same again after being rescued. There's five village girl rape victims plus Female Fighter (which the camera zooms in on just as the shot in the fourth panel), who takes a wagon ride home and never leaves her home again.

I think I recall it that they are 1st sent to the temple/church for counseling and trauma treatment (for which many will never even get over it... even one high ranked female adventurer who had a bad run-in with goblins early in her career still fears them despite her current status)
