  • Porco Rosso Fanart 01

Here is a little fanart/tribute to my favorite Miyazaki film. "Porco Rosso".

The theme is... "What if Porco Rosso was about racing... instead of sky pirates?"

Obviously... In order to resemble the film, I used the Savoia S.21's design elements to construct the racing car... And I felt like a criminal changing the design done by Miyazaki San.

Also, for all you gearheads/car freaks out there... please, no comment on how ridiculous the set up of the car is. I admit. This probably is not realistic... and there is no way there was that kind of wishbone suspension setup before WWII era. The point was to make it "look believeable".

I didn't change any design on Porco though... I just gave little more detailed lighting for his shirts and pants. I also tried to keep the air brush tool to minimum for the "Savoia" racing car. In the anime, I believe it was kept to maximum 3 tone cell shaded. Even on the promotional art, they kept the cell painted look all the time. So, I tried to keep the anime look as much as possible.

Still it was a lot of fun doing it.

So, here it is! for all you middle aged anime lovers out there!!!

Many many apologies to Miyazaki San!

Ahhh... no good, no good. Too little downforce by the looks of it.
