The "Curated" pool is a giant load of completely arbitrary horseshit, since it basically goes directly counter to much of the spirit of the rules regarding pools and the like, so it's best to just forget it even exists. It's functionally just a really public "favorites" folder of some of the arbitrarily-selected users.

I wonder if its actual purpose is as a test bed for bot-maintained pools, so that if albert ever comes up with a bot-maintained pool idea that's actually worth having, he'll have a code base for it. A pool-automation equivalent of Hello World, perhaps.

I could see that if the Curated pool's selection was maintained by bots, which it isn't. As NWSia said, when certain users favorite an image it gets added to the Curated pool, and those users are selected based on (iirc) their preferences being similar to albert's based on favorite/voting patterns.

When I say "bot", I refer to any process where changing which images are in the pool is done by automation rather than an actual human manually performing an "Add to Pool" or "Edit Pool" action.
The actual additions to the "Curated" pool are attributed to the "DanbooruBot" user account, in any case.
