There seems to be some interesting story implied in this illustration.

If you look at the left hands of the three characters, you'll notice a golden ring on each of their ring fingers. While Hakuno's and Tamamo's rings look like traditional wedding bands, Rider's looks just distinct enough from one.

It seems to me that the artist's intention was to hint that all three characters are married to each other, but only Tamamo got to be the legal wife and while Rider pretends to be the mistress for appearances' sake.
