Artist's commentary
1945, August 15th, around 7 in the morning
The date of the Japanese surrender in WW2.
At the end of the war, Hibiki was stationed at Kure Naval Base as an escort ship, and had to use Ushio's cannons as well, as her own were damaged (which is why she has a pink cannon here). Kure was bombed by the Allies and heavily damaged, although Hibiki herself survived to become Verniy after being taken as a Soviet war prize after the war.
At the end, it was only a tactical victory. Shall we pay them back?
