To be fair contractions might just Braxton Hicks contractions if it were a real life case, and especially towards the end of term, they do get more painful.
So yeah even figuring out whether or not it's labor or BH contractions isn't instanteous the way TV likes depicting it (you want to look at the time between contractions and see if the delta t is going down or not)
