Had to do with the artist preference: They where actually based on "official" art where different famous artists draw genderswapped versions of the type moon characters.
Some artists took more liberty in that just like what the artist did who draw Emiya and Lancer (this artist also draw Nanoha and other spinoff series from it so hence "loli" was his forte, different from the artist who draw Shirou)
