Indeed, what's up with Richelieu? Was she immune to the Yamato-damashii of pickled plums that was too much for the decadent Western palette?

My reaction with my first umeboshi is like Iowa's reaction.

I mean, there’s snails- garlicky, buttery, and tastes/feels pretty much like a mussel.

And then there’s umeboshi- salty, sour, and- wait. Is that a pit I just bit down on and destroyed my teeth with?

Oh well, I’m sure the French are used to a wider breathe of flavors anywho.

I must say, it’s quite a shock to eat one of these on its own without knowing what it is. Houshou should have offered them a bit of rice or something.

Wow, I gotta say I'm impressed with Richelieu's resilient tongue... although it looks like:

Richelieu - evaluating the level of sourness
Warspite - struggling to withstand the sourness
Bismarck - "we've destroyed an enemy battleship!"
Iowa - tongue's incapacitated.

... now a part of me wants to know how sour a well prepared variant of those things are since I don't think they're on the level of 'lime' sour or the tears of players who got screwed over by RNG sour.

I just noticed: munmu removes the gloves on the girls that have em as part of accessories when eating. Nice detail right there.

Richelieu is the only one with a critic's palate.

Bismarck should be able to tank that, knowing German sauerkraut and stuff.

I don't find sauerktaut nearly as sour as some of the treats I've tried in Chinatown or Japantown.

Had some mass-produced sauerkraut at the uni's cafeteria several times during the school times. At least Umeboshi are the good kind of sour...

If French people can eat cheese that stink enough to make people flee, umeboshi is likely nothing for Richie.

It may be "bleugh" sour, but it's not the "I'm about to throw up, my world is nothing but sour" flavor.

They haven't invented a sour that's too sour for the Sheen!
