A) They're not really using actual battleship cannons but little proxies thereof. It's entirely possible for the miniaturized guns to have a muzzle velocity low enough that the anchor Ikazuchi swings around (which seems a lot thicker than the armor battleships wear in this game) to actually be thick enough to at least deflect a shell. B) Since when does The Thunder Goddess bow down before the mere laws of Earth physics?
She's still the eldritch horror child of Deadpool, Pinkie Pie, and Bugs Bunny. But be that as it may, she's still a destroyer fighting a battleship during the day. She's going to have to take a lick or two to get the job done.
