    If you seriously give up, though, it's okay just to leave off right there and go play on some other attractions. Or maybe I should say it's still unpleasant to solve it little by little. :-)

    When went to give up at the start, it was in order to return the borrowed writing implements, but once I got one hint, I instantly understood and continued.

    She's not Kongming, which is the problem. And apparently not at an elementary school student level in math... which is a problem given that this was elementary student level difficulty and she's running a business as a freelance artist / mangaka.

    Some people just don't have a knack for math, or possibly word problems vs. numerical problems, or similar. The author seems to handle himself well at conventions, though he's admitted flubbing some calculations owing to fatigue and such.

    I think that's more Sanae being Kongming and Kogasa's in the trap.
