Imagine if one console had to supply the entire market. If Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all merged but only had the production capacity to of one of them. That's basically the position Nintendo is in Japan, since they are just that dominant in the gaming market.

Except that they routinely fail to produce anywhere near enough of their products. They claim they don't have enough manufacturers they can call upon, but they also never seem to actually hire on any more or work towards upping their capacity by, you know, actually making an investment upon which they can later on reap benefits. It's not even a matter of only needing it once every generation of consoles (five years) anymore, because they've been doing this with NES and SNES minis plus 3DS and all the other devices such that there's always something new every Christmas (like it's some sort of for-profit deal) but they never manage to actually make enough products to actually make anyone but the scalpers profit.

Technically that wish is easy for Altera she can turn into her "Titian" mode and shove jack in "you know what" OR just let Kirai do her Noble Phantasm on Jack
Or, y'know... playing it safe since the under-performance of their last console. And all of the controversy they've been in for that last console's lifetime. Any investment brings risk, and when that risk involves having a repeat of the E.T./Atari fiasco because they got uppity... well, I can understand why things are the way they are.
