Even I'll admit that Gangut has gone well and beyond normal limits. The Gacha has got a stranglehold on her methinks.

To be fair, it is making inroads into Asia.... for instance, my family now primarily orders goods from Lazada, though that one we can use because they accept CoD.

I don't really know anything about Fate and I learned a bit of it through the Learn with manga by riyo. Is the game Fate/Grand order any good? I feel like trying it and the series.

Yes, it is. Other than parts such as Rome arcs, lots of the story is actually quite good for a game that is seen as a shameless cash grab by the Fate/Grognards. Chapters such as Camelot is seen as some of the best. A lot of characters get expanded, enriched, through their role in their chapter as well as in events. Be warned about the Gacha. Full of dreams and despair. Especially despair. Do not be That Anon

It is an exceptionally insidious cash grab BECAUSE the story and characters are so attractive.

There's really very little actual need too, all online shopping can either be done COD, paid at a conbini or done though PayEasy/Bank Transfer - the only things that truly you need a credit card for are things like the ETC (highway) card (renting a car itself can be 100% done with cash, not even deposit) or phone plans (that aren't through Docomo et. al.). Plane tickets, concert tickets, online ordering, tax payments, local body fees - it's 100% possible to do it all with straight cash (often through a local conbini.)

You see people complaining about how hard it is to get a credit card in Japan, but for the most part, they're only a nice bonus (for the points and whatnot) than a necessity. Online shopping does just fine here; with Amazon, I can even pay for it when I pick it up at the conbini, with 0 fees attached.

Online shopping is so massively popular here that Kuroneko Yamato dropped doing the same-day prime deliveries for Amazon (who have since switched over to Japan Post and Sagawa, for the most part) as it was over-stretching their capacity!

Well, expect that ordering online is only part of it. Various digital options have increasingly replaced cash for pretty much any forms of transaction online or otherwise in much of the developed world. You say it's a 'bonus', but then you list like six different methods most of them rather less convenient that could all be replaced if everyone just had cards or used mobile payment systems. It's not a question of it being possible to do something with cash, the point is it's inefficient and extra effort and someone that has come from a place where it's no longer really necessary can be justly perturbed by it.

Japan has been a slow adopter of cashless payment systems, that's not really up for debate. It's shifting somewhat now, although not quite in the same way it did elsewhere, but it's still lagging. At this point as I recall only something like a 33% of retail transactions (by volume) in the US involve cash, but IIRC in Japan that's basically reversed with the percentage of cashless transactions being the minority.

I myself basically don't even use cash anymore. I've had the same twenty and one single in my wallet for months and I can't even recall when or where exactly I withdrew them from.
