Alice is a nice grounded person with a lot of sense, Sanae is very silly and over the top, but not in a way that grates on Alice's nerves the way Marisa and Reimu do.

Sanae is the fun person missing from Alice's life, and Alice is someone with the common sense that Sanae sorely misses, and yet, Sanae also strikes me as the kind of person who would hear Alice stuffs her dolls with Gunpowder and be like "Wow that's kinda weird! Well, you can't let yourself be held back by common sense in Gensokyo!" and Alice would be like "EXACTLY! Marisa never understood that!"
