Neither enjoyment or luxury are capitalistic ( which uses miserable moralistic slavery as much as any marxist system ): just normal life in any form of government/economics --- where allowed.

Wouldn't being capitalistic being the accumulation of wealth in the private sector?

Wait, isn't Capitalism "an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state."?

Verniy is just a textbook example of knowing communism only by the book. A proper communist would know that the welfare of the people is of uttermost importance! Why else would the Rodina provide real ice cream to the workers?

FWIW, "capitalist" and "bourgeois" aren't the same thing at all; capitalism is an economic system, whereas the adjective bourgeois refers to the consumptive and social habits of the middle classes under any system. The concept of modern history as a class struggle between the bourgeoisie (urban middle classes, e.g. shopkeepers, factory owners, members of the lettered professions, scientists) and proletariat (urban/industrial working classes) is an essential facet of the Marxist-Leninist implementation of communism, but the mere existence of both classes is held to be universal across all modern societies.

As such, elimination of the bourgeoisie as a distinct class is one of the goals of Marxism-Leninism, but the goal is to raise everyone's lifestyle to their level, not reduce everyone to the misery of factory workers under capitalism. (In practice, of course, the latter is more or less what happened, but it was not the on-paper intent of the communist movement. It worked out that way anyway for a lot of reasons, primary among them the fact that it appears no actual human beings can implement and be in charge of such a system without gaming it for their own gain and turning it into a mass-miserablist police state.)

As such, if Verniy were a true communist, she would see the fact that common naval workers like herself and Gangut have ready access to luxuries as a triumph of the system rather than something to be suspicious of. Her viewpoint, that anything even remotely nice is Not For Us, is much more Stalinist than Leninist, which makes sense if you consider that she only became a Soviet citizen at the absolute zenith of Stalin's power.

Yes. And Communism is that, but everyone shares the profit equally and there's no Government.
It never works that way, though. People don't like sharing, so the profit is never shared equally and the lack of a government means that no-one can enforce the sharing. Thus, Communism always turns into Socialism.

If having a beer and chips/crisps after having a shift working makes you bourgeois, then there is no such thing as a proletariat. That IS the quintessential prole lifestyle.

Ido's comics are already chock-full of national stereotypes. It's no surprise he'd include political stereotypes as well.

We have to remember that Comrade Little One comes from an imperialist country that put austerity above all to the detriment of the people. Thus, what we are seeing is a perverted sense of poverty being a virtue.

So... true communism is achieved when everyone is a slave to our robotic overlords? No wonder we haven't got that far into communism yet.
By the way, ain't "robot" another word for "slave" or something? That'd make everything even better by the extra irony.

It's from the word for 'forced laborer', although it basically meant 'serf'.

Strictly speaking, calling for robot overlords is basically just a call for subverting human nature. You'd have a better time just genetically engineering some sort of zerg-like hivemind to create the "perfect communist society", since ants and bees do it pretty darn well. The instinct to defect (in game theory terms), however, exists in humanity for a reason. Ants and bees die without their colony; the fate of every individual one of them is tied to the fate of the whole. Humanity has survived and thrived in no small part because it is capable of the instinct of the rat that flees the sinking ship, defecting from doomed groups to save themselves. It's also the same instinct that gives rise to protest against corruption in the leader classes, which will rot complex societies from within. (Albeit a perfect robot society may be incapable of corruption even in its highest echelons.)

    Comrade... What makes something 'bourgeois'?
    Is not ice cream bourgeois?
