I would say that there is a significant difference between western and asian interpretation of it. Japanese artists surely making it more tolerable since they seem to aim for artistic beauty and quality over whatever the fark is distribution on western furry communities. That is not to say that they all do. I've seen some weird shit on Pixiv come to think of it.
