    Reimu and Marisa are not typical humans. It's perfectly normal for them to interact with youkai as if it was just a matter of course. This is not the case for 99% of the humans in Gensokyo.

    They even point this out on the next page, and you get a full view of Mystia's current patrons, all of whom are youkai save for Akyuu.
