And I'm usually in choice #4, as the last time I went was because I was pretty badly off and it wasn't something I could just sleep off.

Please don't do #5! It literally killed me. If you are dead set (wwww) on not going to a hospital you should at least monitor your own weight and blood pressure, and adjust your diet accordingly.

This is no surprise. Certified specialists are more expensive than their general practitioner counterparts... and for birds and reptiles, this means any vet who is actually truly qualified to treat them is a specialist. They're also rare as hell.
