As I recall, Hata no Kawakatsu did Matara-jin a favor by helping break up a cult dedicated to a rival of his (who Eternity is loosely based on). Maybe Okina's happy to see the "daughter" of the man she held gratitude towards?

(Sorry for eventual bad english) I made a really long comment about how Okina can't be Kawakatsu in Touhou, but when i was about to post it, i lost it (for some reason when i clicked *reply* i did a login), 20 minutes trow up in the trash, but this comment made me like this "Okina is Kawakatsu" (even if i don't believe it) theory, just because i dislike a lot Hijimiko (both the canon ver and the fanon ver, and i have many reasons), but at the same time i dislike because my fave TH paring is Mikokoro, and this fuel the absolutely non-canon "Kokoro is Miko's daughter" fanon. I think Kokoro is what remains of Kawakatsu's emotions and heart (her name say is literally Hata's Heart,when the 66 masks becomed a menreiki they took Hata as surname not the royal name, Kawakatsu is their father for them, not Shoutuko) and he and Shoutoku were friends,so i think also Kokoro and Miko should be seen as friends. But if Zun make a good work to make a good realationship (if he it make in first place) between Okina and Miko i can 'shift' my OTP from Mikokoro to...um...Mikokina.

You have no idea what Zun intends :v I mean, you do realize that we got new info on Kasen, who's manga has been going on for 7 years? And we JUST NOW learned some very important information about her?

Yes, but Kasen, Kosuzu, ecc are manga's characters and they are differents from games' character, games' characters have very vague backstory, while mangas' characters haven't. This is because, ZUN want us fans put our imagination to fill the "gaps" in character backstory, Gensokyo is a fantasy land. For example, if ZUN give us Sakuya's backstory, just think about how many fans would be sad knowing their years spent writing Sakuya's story were thrown away. I think this count with all games' characters. This is because ZUN isn't type to do this.

ZUN's done that many times before, again, what are you talking about? Being from the manga doesn't make them any different, considering how much lore of other characters like Yukari and Yuyuko we actually get from them.
And let's add in the whole thing with Eternity Larva being potentially related to Okina as well, due to the Hata no Kawakatsu connection. You don't really think he does this stuff on accident, do you?
