I see there're already a bunch of Sagiri images designed by another artist (usui harusame) on Danbooru. What should we do with it, now that the "real" one's here?

I don't think we need to do anything. Wiki has been changed to reflect the official implementation and if you want to find the artist's version just search sagiri_(kantai_collection) usui_harusame.

Considering that people said Amagiri was Akebono, I just see "grey Ushio" when I see her. (Well, aside from a lack of incoming "oppai loli" jokes...)

She's not the first one that ever happened to. There was also Amagi before the Unryuu-class CV was released. Most of the old OCs were split off into amagi_(battlecruiser)_(kantai_collection) since they are referring to a completely different (potential/implicit) character. I can't recall what the others were, but I'm certain there were others. I don't think it's necessary to be hyper-fastidious about this. They're not exactly OCs, more like original placeholder designs, and even though they're not technically part of the kancolle IP, they only exist relative to it.

That just makes it all the more weird to me but eh, not bothered enough about it yet to do something about it.
